Before pictures

We started remodeling in early spring. These are our dated "before" picture. Attracting kitchen with beige walls, whitewashed cabinets, pink tile and a lovely florecent lighting fixture which echoed the shape of the island. The island, I might point out which never allowed the frig door to open completely

Next we have the dinette and atrium door. Any visitors may remember the delicate, mis-shaped sheers that hung on the glass doors.

And who can forget the camel colored carpet, whitewashed fireplace mantle and shelfabove the couch?

The formal livingroom. And just to make it interesting, the picture is upside down. But you get the idea. After 14 years, can you say boring.

One class I took required me to take a common medical item and use it in a completely different way. I was a way to get use to think outside the box. Remembering how a wonderful liquid called Genion violet stained Erika's mouth purple when she was a baby with thrush, I decided to dye some fabric. Our ever dependable pharmacist Mark suggested Betadine as another medical liquid that stains fabric.

Using unbleached muslin I dyed one third violet, one third rusty brown and left one third it's natural color. After drying the fabric on my back fence, I cut and sewed a the following star.

I got an A on the assignment.

Well hello. A few years ago I was in a postgraduate computer class. One of the assignments was to create a blog. I hated it. Part of the final was to blog how I felt about the blog. I announced my intentions to close the blog and never do it again. (I didn't get a stellar grade.) But with a daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter moving out of the country I am returning to blog. After spending time on Facebook, I am liking the blog better.

To those of you who will follow my meanderings, welcome. To quilting friends I hope you enjoy some of my stuff. And to my family hope to see you soon. Be talking to you.
